The Heart Shaped Moon
The place was tucked away in a corner of the Southside, amid a string of gaudy night clubs, casinos and sex parlors. It was a throwback palace, a retro attraction hearkening back to days before I was born. The Heart Shaped Moon Club the sign stated and under the title was the legend An intimate Burlesque experience.

The Bridger
“I am the Bridger. I keep the Bridge.” These are usually the first words anyone hears from me. They are in fact my essential truth. The Bridge is my home, my work, my life. I guard it. I maintain it. I manage it. Any threat to the Bridge, I deal with it. The Bridge is everything. Without me, the Bridge will fail. Without the Bridge, I would fail.

I found it lying in the churned up mud of the road. It gleamed in the afternoon sun. It was a double necklace of gold, two chains each bearing a heart shaped locket. The hearts themselves were joined by a short chain with a clasp. It was clearly a set to be divided between lovers. This one had yet to be shared it seemed.
