Uncle Thomas and The Clock Shop
My name is Stewart. Stewart Smalls. I didn't always own a clock shop, and I never imagined I'd end up living in New York. I was a British lad, born and raised on the streets. My parents were sickly and poor, and they passed away when I was a mere six years old. My older brother Jack was twelve at the time, and he became my caretaker. He showed me how to survive on the streets, until he ended up on the peg. Once he was jailed, I never saw him again. I was suddenly an orphan. Life taught me to fend for myself. I had nobody else, and the streets were hard.

Earth 2088
I am typing this from a forbidden cloud signal network. If the Sons of Progress discovered this document, it would be deleted, and I would be tracked by their global GPS and sent to the reform camps. It is said that people like me are experimented on and psychologically tortured in these camps. Most are never heard from again, but people like me simply want our fundamental freedoms. In my late twenties, I desire nothing else in life. My code name is Phoenix, and I am a hacker, blogger and communications coordinator for the Angel Resistance. We call ourselves angels, because Romanus wants to clip our wings. Before I talk about him, let's start from the beginning.

The Surrealist Gardens of Las PozasTop Story - January 2021
In the early 60s, an eccentric British poet and architect began the most extensive, surrealist art project ever imagined - a fantasy art labyrinth in the jungles of Mexico. I first discovered this magical kingdom by browsing YouTube travel videos. It was the winter of 2017, and I announced to my wife that I had discovered the perfect travel destination. In addition to the Edward James garden, we would also have the chance to see the amazing, natural paradise of La Huasteca, Mexico.

The Feeding of the Street Cows
It was the winter of 2019, and I was finally embarking on a journey I had been wanting to take for several years. I was finally going to India - the land of wonder, and the birthplace of yoga. Even with modern aircraft, the journey to the other side of the world is a long one. Our first stop would be Japan for a one night layover, then off to Delhi, India the next day. Arriving at the Delhi airport was nothing spectacular. Lack of help for arriving passengers and a dismally slow line to check the printed visa-entry requirements (it wasn't electronic) was the norm. Still, I was finally in India with my wife. We made it.

Sound Yoga
Imagine the country of India a couple thousand years ago. No vehicles, no cellphones and no loud-speakers. Now imagine somebody sitting on the banks of the River Ganges in deep meditation, with only the sounds of the rushing water, native bird calls and an occasional conch shell blown to signal prayer ceremonies at the temple nearby. In this setting - where there are no distractions and the concept of time and space fades to the background - it was very possible to meditate for hours.
