Why so many people need glasses now
The evolution of my vision is a narrative shared by many, a tale of gradually fading clarity and eventual reliance on corrective lenses. It's a tale not only of personal inconvenience but also emblematic of a growing global phenomenon - myopia, or nearsightedness, affecting an increasing number of individuals worldwide.

What If You Travelled One Billion Years Into the Future?
Traveling thousands, millions, and billions of years into the future presents a staggering glimpse into the ever-evolving fate of our planet, Earth. Setting foot 10,000 years ahead, the specter of the "Deca Millennium Bug" looms—a technological hiccup reminiscent of the Y2K scare, where software encoding the year won't accommodate dates beyond four digits. Yet, amidst this potential calendar chaos, an intriguing shift emerges: genetic traits among humans will have shed their regional identity, distributing traits like skin and hair color uniformly across the globe. Perhaps, this universalization of physical characteristics will herald an era of greater understanding and unity among humanity.

How America's hottest city is trying to cool down
I'm looking at a map of surface temperatures in the Phoenix metro area. So this is in Arizona, in the southwest US and it shows how hot the ground is in June. And this is a map of child poverty rates. Darker blue means more poverty. So this is heat. And this is poverty. Heat. Poverty. Heat, Poverty. The correlation is pretty obvious. This is where it becomes clear that climate change and wealth inequality are not really separate issues. And you can probably find examples of that wherever you go in the world, but for this story, I went to Phoenix to see how they're dealing with an increase in heat-related deaths.
