Experiment 86119
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. I rather feel like I hear screams too often while looking at the vastness of the stars above me. Inhaling the salty air as I stand just close enough to the ocean for the water to roll over my feet, I ignore the subtle hues of different colored lights coming from me. Almost in a trance, I stand perfectly still as I await something I’m not a hundred percent certain of as a memory rises.

Beatrix Kathleen Beaumont did not consider herself unfortunate to be a young widow at the age of twenty-four. No, she considered it a brilliant stroke of luck that the craggly old man known as Louis Beaumont died a mere two and a half years after their marriage. While she bore no heir, his fortune is still tidily placed in her holding as he has no kin to fight her for it. She was used by Louis for his pleasure, but treated absentmindedly outside of that as if she was just an afterthought. She would often find solace in that she was no longer under her family’s rule, so had more freedom as a married woman to one so wealthy. And now, as she faces the brilliant ship, she excitedly takes her first steps to a truly new and free life.

Mother of Lillies
“When we get to the feast, we can eat as much as we want! Right momma?” Fiorella Sallow eagerly enthused to her mother, holding her hand in her tiny one as she tried to keep up with her parents. Her family isn’t spared this, and even now the once good looking members are now impossibly thin and gaunt. Every part of their beings has lost its vibrancy as they struggle to find enough to feed them all. Today though, her parents have announced that the village was holding a feast for all, something that hadn’t happened for months. Something that used to be so commonplace before.
