The Black Lives Matter (BLM) Movement
The Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement is a global movement that aims to address and combat racism, particularly against Black people. It began in 2013, following the acquittal of Trayvon Martin's killer, and gained widespread attention in 2020 after the murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer. The movement calls for an end to police brutality and racial profiling, and for the recognition of the systemic racism that affects many aspects of society, from the criminal justice system to healthcare and education.
