Stories From My Grandmother
My Grandmother was born when the cotton was being harvested, during War World II, on September 25, 1942. She was the second youngest child of 13 , children of sharecroppers. Her parents were also children of sharecroppers. These are some of her memories of her childhood.

Cooking With My Southern Grandma
Have you ever had a hankering for your Grandma’s food ? I’m lucky to still have both of my Grandmother’s and they will both cook me whatever I ask..I know I’m spoiled. One of my favorite things that my Grandma makes is chicken salad. You can get chicken salad a lot of places but none of them make it like my Grandma does. I called Grandma on the way to her house, and told her I wanted some chicken salad for lunch. We crossed referenced what she already had at home and what was needed. I swung by the grocery store and picked up the items she said we needed. With a handful of bags, knocking on my Grandma door I could see through the window that she was already starting in the kitchen. She dropped her dish towel as I came in, and said “Dropped my dishcloth, a stranger’s coming hungry.” I laughed and said “What,Grandma ?”. She said, “ That's an old saying my Momma used to say when she dropped her dishcloth.” As she began to cook we talked and laughed and I took notes on her chicken salad process.

Visiting NC State Parks
I have visited NC State Parks throughout my life but a recent visit to my local art museum motivated me to try to visit all 41 State Parks this year. The Art installation “Safe Places” by Robert Johnson located at the Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington, NC . The artist visited various parks in NC and recorded in his field journal the complexities and unique characteristics of each park. He then turned his field sketch journal into larger pieces of artwork.

PMS Flu
I have been feeling more under the weather around my monthly cycle lately. Sometimes having bouts of nausea, fatigue, body aches...these symptoms could be confused with the flu or even a virus. However, after some research I found that this is commonly referred to as “Period Flu”. It is not fun being not your normal self for whatever reason so I knew I had to do all I could to feel my best. I have been off my exercise and healthy eating regime that allowed me to lose 50 lbs in the previous year. I have often told myself that this will catch up with me and it has. Luckily ,because “PMS Flu” is treatable with preventive measures and I can hopefully hop back to my normal self every month with some preventive self care.

Joe Vs John
Who doesn’t clutch their pearls when the main hottie in a movie or tv show is handsome, charming, flashes a big smile, and pushes his hair back like Uncle Jesse in Full House. Can a hottie also be creepy ? If so can you be attracted to someone and also scared and or perplexed by them ? If you get the hots for real bad boys, meet Joe and John in THIS, Then THAT.

My Experience Visiting Disney World During COVID-19
I just got back from a quick trip from Walt Disney World. FYI - my feet still hurt from all the walking ! I have visited Disney World three times prior to COVID-19. Once as an adult only trip and twice with children. I knew that there were quite a few differences due to COVID-19 but it was personally important for me to take my son for his 5th Birthday. Here are the major differences that I personally experienced.
