Guys, just let it out
My father was killed in a car accident when I was 19. It was a week before Christmas. This event would eventually lead to the splintering of my family, but that wasn't the biggest takeaway from it.
MLB takes political stance as they pull All Star Game from Atlanta
Major League Baseball announced April 2 that they made the decision to relocate the league's All Star Game and amateur draft due to the recent voter law passed by the Georgia legislature and Governor Kemp is not too pleased.
Stardew Valley changed my life
The global pandemic has forced all of us to rethink our daily lives, re-evaluate what we hold dear and what we crave in our entertainment. It has affected me in ways I didn't think were possible. For one, the boredom and loneliness had me thinking about trying a cutesy farming RPG with ancient graphics. Little did I know that it would change my life and cause me to change the way I see retro gaming.
The future is bright for the NWSL
Soccer is quickly becoming a more popular sport in the United States, mainly due to the overwhelming success of the U.S. Women's National Team winning the past two Women's World Cup championships. This has developed into more interest in the domestic women's league, the National Women's Soccer League. But despite more interest and success, the NWSL and the USWNT have faced many hurdles in establishing women's soccer as a force in U.S. professional sports.
Using a Bullet Journal to Relieve Anxiety and Depression
Anxiety is often paired with depression because the feelings of hopelessness and pointlessness inevitably lead to thoughts of how much worse our lives can get. We imagine our lives falling apart, piece by piece, until we fade away into nothing. For me, this often includes how all my responsibilities will go undone and everyone that relies on me or cares for me will stop caring about me.
Getting Your Character a Life
One of my favorite things about D&D is character creation. It is fun, and often addicting, to come up with different combinations of race and class, rolling stats, and equipping characters. For those who enjoy lore and character-driven role play, establishing your character's place in the many D&D settings is the most thrilling. Finding ways to weave your character into the fabric of Faerûn, Eberron, or a homebrew campaign setting is challenging, and often requires puzzle solving and logic skills to do properly.
5 Ways to Get Motivated While Depressed
Depression is a multi-faceted illness that can make you feel horrible about yourself while sucking any sort of ambition or motivation from you. Your inner critic pairs with the depression to tell you that not only are you pathetic, but anything you do is pointless because all you will do is fail. Failure is inevitable, so there's no point in trying.
Dungeons & Dragons & Depression
"I reject your reality and substitute my own."- Adam Savage Reality, in its collective, is horrifying. I came to this conclusion a few years ago when my own battles with depression increased in intensity. On the small scale, I was struggling to deal with my own day to day life. Paying bills, rent, working, socializing, and being creative seemed like trudging through thick tar with no end in sight. Large scale problems like civil rights, war, poverty, and the laughingstock that is our political system seemed like insurmountable problems, but I worried about them all the same. It seemed this world was just not worth living in anymore.
