The Cave's Truth
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The firelight caused strange shadows and light to dance along the surrounding walls of the small cabin to the beat of a soundless drum. They danced across the charted maps of caves and tunnel systems covering the walls. They flitted across the sketches of strange ruins and symbols on the table. They flowed across the framed pictures of my older brother and I and his missing expedition party, their frames delicately draped with cobwebs. And their dance even made its way over the open hatch in the floor leading to the entrance of the dark cave system below.
