A Letter to My Dog
Dear Bruno, I will start with how lucky and blessed I feel to have had you in my life. You were my first dog, and because of that, you will not be my last. I will always have dogs in my life because of you. You have taught me more than I had ever expected to learn from a dog and given me more than I had ever expected to receive from an animal.

The Friends theme song goes "I'll be there for you 'cause you're there for me too"; and that's the way it's supposed to be, no? You're supposed to be there for each other? Distance, age, the sheer busyness of life should not be a reason for the end of a relationship let alone a true friendship. Life has had the most ironic ways of showing me that anyone can switch up, no matter the bond or history.

B Is for Best Friend
// "We Belong Together" by Randy Newman // Bruno was my first best friend. Bruno is my Cocker Spaniel. I got him when I was four years old; he turned seventeen this past summer (June 2018). The year that he turned fourteen was the first year that it truly hit me; it hit me hard that my Bruno wasn't going to live a life as long and as full as mine.

What I Learned in Boating School Is...
College is weird. Growing up is even weirder. You’re expected to know what you're going to do for the rest of your life at such a young age. You are encouraged to have a plan for your life. Graduate high school. Go into college knowing what path you want to take. "Study medicine, business, or become a lawyer," they'd usually say. Graduate college and find a high paying job. Work your way up. And if for some reason your life doesn't go according to plan, you are no longer worthy of being looked up to.

Let's Go
On the first week of my last fall semester as an undergraduate student (Aug. 2018), my professor asked the class "what is art?" We all murmured amongst ourselves. She told us to write our answers on a sheet of paper. I wrote, "Art is a movement. It is a different aspect/point of view of society throughout time. One can visualize what was happening and how people were feeling through the art. Art is a visual form of history."
