The Unsung Heroes of the Chernobyl Disaster
It was just another day at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant on April 26, 1986. The plant’s employees were busy conducting a safety test on the reactor when an unexpected explosion ripped through the building. The incident became one of the worst nuclear disasters in history, killing two plant workers immediately and exposing hundreds of thousands of people to radiation. In the aftermath of the explosion, many brave men and women risked their lives to contain the damage, but their stories have largely gone untold.
