To the Heroes it concerns
To whom it concerns, I was not granted the kind of life that comes with an abundance of people who make a significant positive impact on it despite the need for such people. My mother wove a web of lies and deception around her to control everything just how she wanted it. Anyone who threatened by word or deed to expose or deconstruct that web was cut off or kept at what she deemed a “safe” distance. Siblings and other relations alike were manipulated to prevent any break from her control. I was lucky enough to have a sparse few who were at least able to help me break the cycle in one form or another.

Bastion's Halloween
My best friend and I had our absolute favorite adventure, our first Real Halloween, the year he turned 12. I was born into a traumatic household, but Bastion was adopted into it. I had already endured eight and a half years with my mother by the time Bastion came into my life. He was a bought and paid for American Kennel Club registered Labrador Retriever. He was originally intended as a “buttering up” gift for my new step-father thought Mother put it as “hunting dog and companion”, but my mother hardly ever means what she says. They had been married less than 3 months and had already had some serious fights about her lack of responsibility, so her solution to distract from her behavior was to make a dramatic show of helping my step-father find the dog he’d always wanted. The idiot fell for it and it became the dynamic for our lives from that time forward. As long as she went slow, had excuses and kept him happy, she could get away with everything short of murder.

The Rescues -- A Series
I am Dying. Humans find that such a harsh thing to say. But it is true. My new family does not know yet. They know I am sick, because they took me to the Vet this morning, but I can feel the weakness setting into my very heart. It will not be long now.

The Rescues -- A Series
Each day after that was wonderful. Mama, the lady’s name, put medicine on each and every wound. It hurt but I trusted her and let her do it. She made sure I took my medicine every day and got lots of little meals, I was only 45lbs. when I should have been 120lbs. So, Mama said it was going to be a slow build. She also gave me a bath that made my skin feel so much better. It stopped burning and itching and in few days the hair started to grow back. When the new growing hair got so prickly feeling, I had to chew at it Mama gently applied new medicine to the patchy places that eased the pain and helped it heal further.
