What are the Treatment Options for a Talus Bone Fracture and the Outcomes
The talus bone is the bone that connects the foot and ankle to the leg. The upper part of the ankle joint is formed by the bones of the lower leg, the tibia and the fibula, and the talus forms the bottom of the ankle joint. The ankle joint allows the foot to move up and down while walking or running. The talus is positioned at the top of the heel bone (calcaneus), and the joint formed by these two bones is called the subtalar joint. When you move your foot side to side or do big circles with your foot the subtalar joint allows for this motion. So the talus is the bone that is part of two joints important for normal gait. Both moving the foot up and down but also side to side.
