Chasing Clouds
I wasn’t supposed to cry. It would always upset daddy when I cried. I couldn’t help it though, life seemed so lonely ever since we lost mama. She wasn’t supposed to leave us when she did. I remember her telling me that she was sick and that she would have to go be with God soon. I didn’t understand why she had to leave us. I was certain, that she would want to be with me more than God. What could he do, that I couldn’t? He didn’t seem like a good person.

I DON'T want a Dog!
When I first married my wife at the young age of twenty-one, I naively thought that I was somehow lightyears ahead of my peers in the department of responsibility. To me I was ready ready to take on marriage and understood the commitment to selfless sacrifice made for the benefit of your significant other. Back then, I would have said, that my emotional maturity was above average for my age. Though that might have been true at the time, what I failed to realize was just how selfish I really was.

It is the night of the hallowed Hallow’s eve, and you are rested on your sofa in front of your television by the fireplace. You are munching on a bowl of freshly popped buttered popcorn and sipping away on a cold can of sizzling carbonated soda. You await the next ring of the doorbell to hand out miniature candy bars to passing kids dressed as monsters and ghouls.

The year is 2383. If you are anyone with any galactic credits or fame to your name you would be off-world. The only humans left on Earth are the microbial trash dwellers, corporate management, or an employee. A corporation by the name of “Omnis” is the sole business left in operation on the planet. They were granted the rights to monopoly after all other companies had retreated to other planetary and solar systems. A monopoly was the only way a corporation could survive on Earth in the year 2383.

Bangalore a jungle city. A city on the rise to most, but not to Kālā. To Kālā the city was blacker than the burnt hash hanging off the end of his cigarette. He drew in a long drag, that lit his face an ember orange. One...two...three...four; he let out an exhale of smokey haze. Kālā had a scorn chiseled into his face. It was as if he was waiting for an excuse to cause someone pain.

For a secretary at the San Antonio press, this world can seem like a inescapable board game, whose rules aren’t written in favor of the women playing the game.

The elite establishment of politicians, bankers, and oligarchs crumbled underneath the rise of the decentralized people’s currency. Falsehood puppet parties faded as true democracies rose out of its ashes in the crypto driven free market economy. Out of the 10,000 cryptos made in the early years, three coins rose to the top amongst the people. Later known as the people’s currency. Doge, Ethereum, and Galactic credits dominated the new age financial infrastructure.
