Reset Your Password
I stared at my computer. I’m not sure how long I’d been doing it for, but it had to be several minutes. I had been trying to access some important files from my past but had been met with a roadblock that I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to navigate in time to make my deadline. My password wasn’t working, and I had reached the point where it said ‘reset your password.’ But I feared that it wouldn’t let me do that. What if it asked to send a confirmation code to my phone. I had changed phones since working on those files and had likely not remembered to change the recovery phone number in the platform I was trying to access. That had been an extremely difficult time in my life. I’d changed jobs and found out that someone close to me had cancer. I was also dealing with receiving several phone calls a day from someone harassing me. I hadn’t even known the person. My best guess is that the person who had my number before me got rid of it to stop having an ex-boyfriend bother her. I unfortunately had to get rid of the number because of that. I had blocked the number in hopes that I wouldn’t have to get rid of my phone that carried so much of my life in it. But they just seemed to keep finding other numbers to call from. It had been easier to get a new number, than have to go through getting the police to find out who the lunatic was that kept calling me.

Magic in a Box
I am magical and can see everything that is happening around me, both inside of this box and on the outside. That’s how come I can tell you this story with certainty. Only me and the woman who wrapped this box and put a special gift in it know what I’m hiding. It’s fun to be able to keep a magical secret once in a while. The gift that I’m keeping safe is extremely special because it is a one-of-a-kind artistic creation. That means I’m the only gift box in the world that will ever have the chance to see someone open this particular gift.

Message from a Macaw
Mario sat on a tree branch in the rain forest he called home. But instead of singing a beautiful song or enjoying the sunshine, he was angry and frustrated at what was going on around him. People wanted to see the parrots and other animals that lived on his island. Mario used to be alright with that. He had liked watching the people. Sometimes he even tried to imitate what they said.

The Many Jobs of a Cat
If my cat knew that I was writing this, he would likely be giving me one of his ‘Are you serious looks?’ While he is extremely intelligent, some days he just doesn’t understand boundaries or compliments. Therefore, he might see his nomination as something menial that his human is attending to instead of doling out treats. But, as I think about all of the jobs that he attends to in a day, I think he deserves to be empawyee of the month.

A Day in the Life
If you ask me who I am, and what I do for work, there are many ways that I could answer you. What I tell you will probably depend on where I am and the context of our conversation. I could tell you everything but that would be quite time consuming, and likely we should be spending some time talking about you too.

Under the Pear Tree
It was a beautiful starry night when a young company spread out a large, checked picnic blanket. Madelyn and Liam seemed so happy as they looked up at the stars and admired my flowers as they were in full bloom in the springtime and shared a few glasses of wine and some sweets together.

Skating Away
In the winter, I always felt that it was easier to be me. In the winter, I seemed to have a purpose. I knew where I was going and when I was struggling, I’d just put on my skates, lace them up tight and skate around the old frozen pond on my parents’ farm for hours and hours. Even on the most frigid days, the sound of my skates’ blades on the ice was a welcome noise. With each circle of the glassy ice that I’d make, I found a way to leave the hurt that was in my head and my heart on the ice.

The Benefits of Being a Red Light
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to tell my story. So many people dislike me, that I don’t think they’ve thought about how vital I am to their lives. It’s taken me a long time to get a high enough self esteem to realize that I have value and that I matter. I’ve also come to notice, that I may in fact be luckier than my cousin Green Light. She is always busy hurrying people through intersections that she doesn’t have a chance to slow down and enjoy all of the things that can be seen.

The Wedding Bouquet
Lily stood in her workroom looking at the beautiful choices for flowers in her fridges. She was getting married. It would finally be her turn to enjoy making her own bouquet. But she was perplexed. She’d prepared so many bouquets for brides based on what they liked but wasn’t sure what she wanted for her own bouquet. She’d drawn a number of sketches but still nothing felt quite right. Everything she’d come up with felt like it was missing something to make it extra special and unique.

Mindful Practices
Often, we rush too much, and we need to find ways to be able to accomplish everything that we need to but also to destress. My life has always been quite busy as I’ve been involved in a number of community events, working a full-time job, pursuing my passion of writing, and working around my family’s farm.
