She Cheated and I'm Broken
Six months ago, I found out that my partner of five years had cheated on me. Worst yet, it happened enough times over a long enough period that it was more than a fling. I have to live with the pain that it was enjoyed so much that it occurred often.
The Golden Age of Stand Up on Netflix
Netflix is in the process of acquiring just about every comedy special they can get their hands on. In doing so, a new age of stand up is taking place almost exclusively on Netflix. There are way too many amazing stand up acts for me to list or even watch them all. So… I’m only going to do ones that I’ve quoted, watched more than once, or have specifically sought out to improve my day.

Best of Comedic Horror On Netflix
Those of us that are self-proclaimed horror maniacs have somehow managed to stumble ass-backward into a golden age of my new favorite sub-genre. Comedic horror and I don’t mean the "it’s so bad it’s good" kind. I also sure as hell don’t mean movies like “ Scary Movie 2” or other goof-ball parodies.
Sleep Paralysis, Buried Alive
Sleep paralysis is only now becoming recognized. When I was about 18 I started to notice something disturbing happening to me. I would wake up, but not. My eyes would open and dart around the room, but my head would lay lifeless and weighed down. I’d try to sit up, move a finger, cry out for help but nothing would happen. I was paralyzed. The first few times is terrifying, and since then they have remained terrifying. In fact according to the DSM-4, symptoms include “dread,” and “a fear of impending death.” Eventually, I slowly start to “break” out of it, but it requires an enormous draining effort to do so. My right foot is always the first to move and often is never paralyzed. Anyone I’ve shared my bed with as an adult knows if my legs start to go apeshit wake me up.
