REPUBLIC DAY OF INDIA 26 January is celebrated as the Republic Day in India, it marks the day when the Constitution of India came into effect on January 26, 1950, replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India. The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26th November 1949 and came into effect on January 26, 1950, making India a republic. On this day a grand parade is held in the capital city, New Delhi, where a display of India's cultural and military heritage is presented. The President of India unfurls the national flag and the national anthem is played. The parade starts from the Rashtrapati Bhavan and proceeds towards the India Gate. It's a national holiday in India, and people celebrate it with patriotic fervor across the country.
