In the city that never sleeps
Constant noise is the norm
Hidden shadows, people creep
Never far is the storm
Skies are alight, never with stars
Pepper? Why would I smell pepper in the middle of a mountain forest?
I kept creeping between the trees trying to locate the source of the smell. It must be someone's deodorant or something because it was totally out of place. I let my nose guide me until I finally saw him.
Perching on the edge of the abandoned warehouse I watch as my partner stands in the opening between the building and the woods four stories below waiting for our contact. I triple check to make sure I am sufficiently concealed by the shadows.
The man looked down at his assistant.
"Bring in the dogs."
The timid assistant jumped at his boss's powerful voice and quickly scurried out of the room. The man leaned back with a smirk.
If you asked a werewolf what the best feeling in the world was they would most likely say "holding their mate" that is if they had one. But I, being without one and less sappy, would probably say running through the trees as fast as you can without a destination. Just like I'm doing now.
