Night Terrors
I’d never been into a tattoo studio before. I guess I’d expected it to be a bit grittier, like a biker gang called it their second home. But the floor tiles and walls were pristine and white, and the artist working on a man in the corner of the shop was wearing black medical gloves. So many drawings hung from the walls that the place could have doubled as an art gallery if it had wanted. Apparently I knew even less about this sort of thing than I’d thought.

The Intervention
By the time I finally got into my apartment building, all I wanted to do was crawl into bed and sleep away the long, awful day I’d had at work. Or, at least it’s what I planned to do. It was a gloomy night, and going out would be more trouble than it was worth.

Liminal
There are places in this world where reality is just a little off. Places that the passage of time doesn’t seem to touch, where measurements like distance don’t seem to work quite right. They could be anywhere, but oh so many of these places can be found driving along the highways of America.

A Light in the Mountains
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. But to Leah, a stranger to this mountain, the sight of the flickering glow filled her with hope, and like a moth to the flame she couldn't help but approach. There had been no other sign of civilization for hours, and as the storm overhead grew stronger, she knew she had to do something. Her heart pounded in her chest as she stumbled over the rocks and twigs that littered the muddy path, but it beat sitting alone in her car in the dark, praying for another vehicle to save her.
