Three Things I Forgot About Evelyn
Evelyn was due home any minute from her work trip to Paris with Colette and Francois, a week-long indulgence of all the fineries Paris had to offer plus the biggest fashion extravaganza in all of Europe. I could envision her wandering around wide eyed in her sailor outfit, looking about as out of place in that sea of fashion perfection as possible, but Evelyn wouldn’t care how out of place she was. One of her greatest strengths was how little she worried about whether she looked like she belonged somewhere or not, deep down I envied that part of her. Since she had been back she had helped me build myself back up and without her I wouldn’t have the confidence I did and neither would I be with a guy who finally treated me well.

Evelyn Say's Goodbye
Tony guided Evelyn and me through a gate in the garden down towards a secluded area, he gave Evelyn two lanterns and a lighter. Tony held the first lantern, shielding the little wick for Evelyn, as it ignited and the fire took hold, she let it fly up into the sky, joining all the other lanterns that had been released, she whispered something as she set light to the second lantern and set that free too. Whispering to herself as the lanterns flew up into the sky, she rubbed her eyes, Tony turned and left "I will give you a few minutes" he said quietly as he wandered away, checking over his shoulder and letting out a little smile.

Not For A Million Likes
The first half hour of my interview and photo-shoot was at best painful for all parties, those two girls we had watched finish their shoot and leave had clouded my mind. All the notes I had written down blurred into a big mess in my mind, I was languishing on that school chair in front of that screen with the green ribbon backdrops they had ready.

A Heavy Price
Just a week ago there were four of us, a small band of survivors in the dissolving mess of this town, Kyle and his girlfriend were the first to fall. Kyle openly carrying a rifle was taken down by two shots to the chest, Katie was killed moments later as she tried to save Kyle from the inevitable. Both held hands as they bled to death together, Josh was captured by the killers, a gang of thugs who had no trouble overpowering Josh. Binding his hands and feet they took him away to their hideout to torture and eventually kill him when they got bored of toying with him. Had I left the safety of the house we had ventured out from then my fate would have been little different but in their delight at finding someone to slowly torture to death they didn’t suspect anyone else was watching. While they took Josh away with them, rage consumed me and I became something very different in this abandoned and hopeless world.
