The Pen Is Stronger Than The Sword
Creativity had always run deep in my family's veins. Whether it was music, art, or writing. In my case it was all three. But my first real passion started in writing. Among lyrics, and poetry, it was stories most of all. You see, my mother had always said I had a large imagination ever since I was a small child. And for a writer that was a gift I was grateful to have.

My Dearest Father I have Anxiety
Below is a poem I wrote about my anxiety and the challenges it brings with it. For example not everyone understands it and that is what I wrote about below. I, like many people, have struggled with anxiety among other mental health issues like depression for years. Although it has been hard on me and I wish I didn’t have these challenges, that doesn’t mean I can’t work on it and learn how to properly handle these issues in my life. So, by submitting this poem below I wish to bring mental health awareness to the community and if anyone out there reading this struggles with anxiety I want you to know that you are not alone and it is nothing to be ashamed about. You are important, and you matter, and you are loved. It is time to end the stigma around mental health. Mental health matters and it nothing to be ashamed about or embarrassed of when we are struggling. It can affect anyone so therefore we must please support and love everyone. I hope you enjoy my work.

A Superhero A Warrior A Mother
My mother, like many mothers, was probably one of the best mothers anyone could ever ask for. She loved with all her heart, fought with all her strength, worked tirelessly, and was probably one of the smartest people I knew. She also gave me and my sister a pretty great life that we may not have had if her and my dad hadn't adopted us. She unfortunately passed away about three months ago and I know I'm always going to miss my mom and even more love her with all my heart. But that's not what I'm here to talk about today. Today I'm here to talk about all the great things my mom taught me. But there are quite a few things that have been passed down to me from my knowledgeable mother so instead of rambling on into endless sentences and lengthy paragraphs, I have decided it would probably be easier to compile them all into a simple list if that's alright to those who may be reading this:

When Love Is Not Seen But Felt
"I can do this. I can do this. I can do this." Was the mantra I had repeated to myself in my head from the entire hour I spent getting ready for the evening, all the way up to until I pulled up to the restaurant in the backseat of my taxi that had picked me up outside of my apartment. I was hoping that the car ride would've settled my nerves but the moment I walked up to the front door my anxiety had completely amplified.

Exciting First Date and Disastrous First Impression
Let me just start off by saying, I am a huge klutz. And unfortunately, more common than not, it comes in the form of injuring myself seemingly out of nowhere. Whether it's tripping, falling, dropping my phone on my face as I'm laying in bed, or in this case like I have quite a few times prior, running into things.

When Love Came In The Form Of A Dog
It all started back when I was a sixteen years old. I was currently in band that a group of friends from school and I had formed about half a year prior and lived in Southern California. Honestly we were just a bunch of misfits and outcasts who had bonding together over our common love of music and had eventually decided to do something about it. So like I mentioned earlier, we formed a band. But unfortunately, we didn’t have anywhere to practice at home so with that being said, we had to venture out and find our own space to practice. And boy, did we ever. Far off in the land known as the San Fernando Valley, we scraped together enough money to buy a small building that we called our “band house” and although it wasn’t exactly the nicest of homes, it was ours and that’s all that mattered.
