"Cora Ann Black" The bell rang indicating that it was time for the students to head to their first class of the day. In my case, however, was trig. It wasn't an easy class and one that was complicated to grasp unless you were born to be smart. As everyone rushed to their classes, I stood at my locker with my head against my locker as I attempted to will away the throbbing headache caused by the echo of the bell. My headaches have occurred more recently in the last few days than I would of liked and the worst part was, is that they keep getting worse by the day and I had no proper answer on why that could of been. I was new here and don't have anyone to call friend. I was lucky enough to find my assigned locker for the year without any guidance. My thoughts got interrupted as a wave of pain erupted from my temples and forehead, causing me to kneel over and drop anything that I had been holding, fell to the ground. I clutched my head as my felt my vision go black and then there was nothing. Just a black void that had dragged me under.
I twirled my staff toward the dummy that stood before me, imagining it to be an enemy of our kingdom, jabbing it in the side then in the heart. My heart was loud in my own ears as I trained until I ran out of breath. I inhaled deeply and wiped the sweat off of my forehead. “You work too hard to be exerting yourself Jasmine.” I heard a male say from off to my right. I glanced over at the man that approached me from the shadows. His aura, an ultraviolet, could be easily seen from where he was. “What do you plan on doing with all of this training?” Parker was an obnoxious man that knew how to swoon women but I was lucky enough to evade his charms. I was born not to get distracted easily and when I did, It was a hell of a day in my world.
The Warrior Prologue
PROLOGUE “Where are we going?” I asked Emma as she dragged me down a narrow alleyway that leads to a dead end. She didn’t respond to my question and I tugged my wrist out of her hand, causing her to stop dead in her tracks. She turned her head to look at me, her glossed lips glittered beneath the soft glow of a nearby street light but half of her face was concealed in the shadows, unable to read her expression. “Em,” I said in hopes to draw her attention to me instead of her drawing back from reality. “Are you okay?” I asked.
CHAPTER ONE I felt my heart pounding in my chest as I raced through the dark expanse of the forest. I ran until my legs felt weak and was unable to continue. I didn't know what I was running from but I knew from what my gut was telling me that it was bad. I looked behind me only to see the shadowy figure of death. The shape outlined that of a wolf. Its' features were unknown but I knew that it was here for me. Was I dreaming? I asked myself as I gazed at the figure.I slapped my face, hoping that it would help wake me up but I was wrong.
CHAPTER ONE Emery's P.O.V Nobody said that being a vampire wasn’t easy. I thought to myself as I sat on a rock overlooking the lake. My now changed hair which was a flame colored red blew gently in the wind. It was dark and the sun was just setting in the horizon and the stars began peeking behind dark grey clouds. At this hour vampires began to stir. Getting ready for the night ahead of them. I miss being human. I thought as I heard three familiar voices from behind me. I turned and saw Nora, Blake, and Marcus approaching me but I ignored them and continued to stare off into the distance. Nora and Blake were the ones that I found me on the highway that night. Injured and on the verge of death. If it wasn't for Marcus...My thoughts trailed off as I snapped back to reality as I sighed. I was grateful to all three of them..but being like this....a vampire that has to have some control...wasn't and was my choice....
