My white and black tuxedo cat, Buddy, was standing on the back of my office chair, looking out the window, making little chittering noises, occasionally followed by a stressed bray.

I was surprised when she called me while she was in the hospital to begin the complex processes of signing all of the paperwork that was required. It was not as easy as the movies made it look.

*Author's Note: I originally published this story on reddit some time ago. Some grammar has been fixed and some sentences adjusted for clarity but it is largely the same. This story is told from first person but is a work of fiction. It is written for the medium it was originally produced for.*
