Here, now
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. Cozy is hard to come by in the end of the world, but this was it, there was no mistaking. It had all the trappings of that Danish hygge vibe that dominated the 2010s — a sweet little 2-bed tucked away in the woods of Northern California, complete with a fireplace, a barrel sauna, and a floor hammock. Of course, the barrel sauna was long out of commission, what with the gas rationing, and the fireplace would be lit for utility more than atmosphere. Still, just the hint of what we had before — the sheer proximity to such simple luxury — was comforting.
