I am NOT a Rock Star
I will never forget the day my daughter came to me and said, "Mom - I feel like I was meant to be a man." A large part of me wanted to quip back something short and humorous..."Yeah, well me too sweetie! Most women feel that way!" But deep inside, with that part of you that knows the difference between a casual comment and a plea for help, I knew she was telling me to brace myself. Changes were coming. And they did.

Crave the NO
When I am doing sales training, I tell my would-be sales gurus that to be successful in sales, they must learn to "Crave the NO" - meaning they must learn to not just get comfortable hearing the word "no", but they must crave it. Why? Because in sales it takes approximately 10 "no's" to get a "yes" - so each time you hear the word "no" it means you are one step closer to hearing "yes" and getting that big sale. Therefore - crave the NO. Champion sales people understand that hearing no is part of getting to yes. Average sales people let every nuance of the word no strike them like arrows and deflate the rest of their sales presentations.

The Value of Confidence
I recently read another article about confidence in the workplace. This one, published by Forbes, took the perspective of women in the workplace and how they, many times, struggle with confidence. I liked the article (read for yourself HERE) but what I felt the article did not do enough of was equate the real, bottom-line value of having confidence. Self-deprecation, second-guessing and generally failing to believe in one's self costs money - in your pocket and for your company's bottom line.
