I saw the Korean boy band BTS back in September of 2018 during their Love Yourself world tour. The super group now solely plays stadiums, which makes me incredibly thankful to have had the chance to see them at the Staples Center -- right at barricade.
With a population of 1.5 million, Gwangju is the 6th most-populated city in South Korea -- greatly shadowed by Seoul, with 10 million. The southern city isn't a popular tourist location, and as a result, you won't see many foreigners during your stay. No matter what you do in Gwangju, whether it be touring the World Cup Stadium or exploring the art district, you'll feel like a local.
I spent my 15th birthday in Italy, posing for pictures in front of the Leaning Tower of Pisa and eating tiramisu in Venice. I spent my 18th birthday in Hawaii, hiking to waterfalls and strolling on the beach under a full moon, just for me. And I spent my 20th birthday in Korea, saying goodbye to my closest friends, getting lost in Seoul with a dying phone, nearly getting stranded, and getting completely blackout drunk.

You roll out of bed fifteen minutes before class starts, throw on some decent clothes and groggily make a stop at the silver lining for all college students: Starbucks, or The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, or Einstein’s… The distributor is not necessarily important — it’s what they sell. And it has left a mark on your car seats, your favorite t-shirt and Western culture.

Death is not my greatest fear, but it has consumed my thoughts for as long as I can remember. I have no real reason to think about it to such an extent; none of my immediate family has passed away (only extended) and I am only eighteen years old. Maybe I watch too many gory movies and television shows... Maybe I'm paranoid on top of it, which does make sense—I'm quick to jump to conclusions about my health whenever something hurts or I learn of a new disease.
