New York Day 4
This morning we had a lie in. This was partly to do with the fact that some of the other guests kept on slamming doors in the night and the fact that we decided to go on a cruise and they didn’t start until 10:30 AM. We both agreed not to have breakfast before hand because of travel sickness. Food tended to make us feel worse as we both learnt on the flight to New York. The boat ride was going to be an hour and a half. It looped around the statue of Liberty and passed the sights of New York and Manhattan. We got on for free with our New York Pass. Such good value for money and I would recommend it to anyone else going New York. Stupidly I did not dress suitable for the boat trip. I left my coat in the hotel room and needless to say I was fricken' freezing.

New York Day 5
Today we got up early so we could have a walking tour around Central Park. I decided to wear my new Sketchers today. Unfortunately, this had turned out to be a mistake. The back of my heels was bleeding as soon as we got to the park. The walking tour was really good. The guide told us all of the historic places and where filming took place under some of the bridges. One of the bridges we went past was featured in one of my favourite films, Cloverfield. He knew where the expensive apartments were and pointed them out to us. Also, where local celebrities resided. I would recommend everyone take a walking tour. You will not regret it.

New York Day 6
It was our last morning in the hotel, so we decided to have a lie in until about 9 AM. Checkout was not due until noon. Unfortunately, housekeeping had other ideas at 7:30 AM and used their keys to come into our room. My friend sprung out of bed and got to the door before she could get in. Housekeeping wanted to know what time we were leaving. It’s very lucky my friend got there first, or I would have told the woman where to go. I do not like being woken up before I have to. As a result, housekeeping lost their tip this morning.

New York: Day 3
This morning I had a scrambled eggs breakfast in the hotel restaurant. It was nice, but the chefs put an awful lot on my plate. I couldn’t even eat half of it and I usually eat loads. I’ve noticed that eggs seem to be the main things on breakfast menus over here. My friend had the pancakes. She had a cup of tea and the waitress assured us it was English tea. It most definitely wasn’t. I just had a soda instead. After breakfast we went to a few convenience shops. I needed to pick up some toiletries for the hotel. We were determined to find some proper tea bags. We ultimately failed. So, I must pack proper tea bags on my next holiday abroad—roll on Las Vegas!

New York: Day 2
Today I woke up feeling incredibly refreshed and ready for anything. We went out and found a diner—Juniors—for breakfast. I had an omelette with ham and hash potatoes and a cup of tea. It is very true that they give out big portions of food, but I got my money’s worth, as it cost $16. The food was lovely; the tea was not. Reminder to self: take a box of British tea bags next time I go to America.

New York
When I travel I tend not to sleep much the night before. I get plagued by thoughts over every possible thing that could go wrong; losing passport, missing the flight, losing my luggage etc. This time my nerves were of flying were fighting against the excitement over I am finally going to New York!
