The trailer park’s singular street lamp flickered yellow in the cold, misty night. A lean female figure, dressed in black sweats and a gray oversized hoodie, casually walked out in front of a trailer, a tousled mess of brown hair twisted into a bun. The gravel driveway crunched under her house shoes as she rolled the outdoor trash can back toward her single-wide mobile home.

CHAPTER TWO I stay crouched on the ground for several more minutes, waiting to see if the dragon emerges from the fog again, but it does not return. I stand up and slowly turn in a circle to get a better view. The area to my right levels out to a small plateau and then drops off a cliff into an unknown and foggy abyss.

CHAPTER ONE My heart pounds within me as I race through the dark cave. I’ve never experienced fear like this. I look behind me, fully expecting to see shadows crawling through the hole as the Guardians hunt me down like a wild animal.
