Ten Unusual Black Cards for Commander
Why hello again! If you have been following along, this series focuses on interesting cards for commander. Most of them are from the ancient, hoary days of Magic when cards more-or-less sucked just after the apocalyptic abominations presented in Alpha through Legends. Over time, some of these nearly useless cards acquired a use (yes, even Sorrow’s Path, the absolute bottom-of-the-barrel Magic card ever printed). This week I am taking a look at black cards – my favorite color! I love the cost-versus-reward nature of black as I am by nature a fairly bitter person. I also love board wipes and black has a bunch of them - some even exile!
Ten Unusual Blue Cards for Commander
Hey again Commander fans! I went over some cool white cards last week and artifacts a couple of weeks ago, this week I am focused like a laser on interesting blue cards. Not those staples that literally everybody plays, I am talking about some cool, unique cards with abilities that are hard to reproduce, and have interesting interactions with other cards. Blue has a lot of staples as we know, this makes it harder to fit some of these cards into our 99 (59 really as I usually run 40 lands, none of which are blue).
Ten Unusual White Cards for Commander
This week I am focusing on my least favorite color in Magic: White! These are cards that are only white (excluding multi-colored cards) that may or may not be used in your commander deck (if it contains white). Surprisingly, I had a very hard time narrowing down this list as there are a lot of cards that intrigue me in white, I just rarely ever play it, especially in commander. Like last week's Artifact article, I focused on non-general commander cards. So here are ten cards that I have used or simply find interesting in white:
Ten of My Favorite Commander Artifacts
Hey folks, I was on vacation for the past two weeks, so I got super-lazy and didn't write anything. Lo siento. Well, this week I was going to write about one of my favorite Commander cards, but while tinkering with it I remembered that I have a lot of favorite Commander cards! So, I decided to make up a top ten list of my favorite artifacts to use in my favorite format! Yay? Brewing MTG with Maralen
This is an article about deckbuilding for Magic: the Gathering. It may be a little advanced for some readers, so if you need to know anything more basic about the game, I recommend that you visit magicthegathering.com to learn that stuff. Otherwise, I will assume that you understand the basics such as how much land to use versus creatures or mana values as well as concepts such as sorcery-speed vs. instant-speed. This article also assumes that you understand more advanced applications of rules such as details about keywords, phases, and steps.
Big Block Love
I was a little over a year old when I first drove a car. My parents tell me that they left me in my dad’s 1968 Dodge Coronet at that tender age in the front seat, parked at my grandfather’s farm in Michigan while they popped into the house to grab something. In that short span of time, I put the car into “D”, and it immediately blasted into a nearby haybale.
