Curiosity Killed The Cat
I've been watching the new neighbors unpack the Uhaul for an hour or so now. Their furniture is nice. I'm personally not much of a people person but they seem pretty normal from my window. It looks to me like the children love their fathers and are as happy as can be. They are smiling and excited about being here.

Have Your Cake
I never thought a piece of chocolate cake would be the death of me. No one probably does. But here I am lying on the floor dying and with no savior in sight. It's a different kind of story for sure, I would say funny, but as I am lying here it is more like hitting your funny bone, not so funny after all.

Lead by Example
Inner Peace. Those two words together seem unreachable at times. In today’s world that is so fast paced and unforgiving we forget to stop and smell the roses. So many times when we could be doing something that brings us inner peace we find ourselves scrolling through our devices, looking at other peoples lives. I long for the days of a more simplistic lifestyle but it seems that if you are not connected you cannot thrive in today’s society. At least that is how the system is made to make you feel.

All Mixed Up
The barn was decorated, tables set. Everyone was buzzing around getting things prepared. It was a typical scene for a wedding. The bride wore a beautiful white dress adorned with ruffles and a flower that was embellished with glistening jewels. She wore her grandmother's pearls. Her hair curled and a sparkling little princess crown. She had all the trinkets the wives tales tell us to have. Something, old, something new, something blue, and her father had just dropped her sixpence in her shoe. Nothing that went wrong that day mattered because she was getting married to her high school sweetheart. Just like her momma, she hoped to be with this boy as he grew into a man and into old age. She loved him. The wedding flew by and it didn’t even feel like she was there. It felt more like an out of body experience. Was there even a party? The young man and woman said their “I do’s” and signed their marriage certificate with giant grins on their faces. Neither knew what was in store for them.

Between Life And Death
I imagined my 21st birthday being like any other girl's bridge into adulthood with copious amounts of alcohol, a sash that says birthday girl and a bunch of friends around me. Getting drunk as a duck, falling over myself because my heel broke, probably ending the night puking in the toilet and making poor choices that I would never mention to anyone else. Instead I sat on a river bank freezing my ass off next to a small fire at the end of December in Missouri.

The End
He held the tarnished heart shaped locket in his hand looking down at it with blurred vision from the sweat rolling off of his forehead and the tears welling up in his eyes. He could hear the screams coming from her like it was just a moment ago that he lost his beloved. Some days he wasn't sure how or why he kept going but he did. That locket kept him going. The hope that he could see her again. It was a quiet night. All you could hear was the crackling of the fire and his heavy disembodied breaths as he tried to gather his thoughts. He remembered it like it was yesterday.
