Witchcraft in the 21st Century
Introduction Witchcraft is a subject that is various to many cultures with many ideas. It’s a practice in south Africa, and also a practice in other areas throughout history. Witchcraft isn’t new, and that is definite, but it has changed from what it was before, and from what most people believe of what a witch is. So here, I want to set it clear, end unfair judgements that precall upon a witch, and atlast describe some beliefs and practices at a beginner level, and a basis of everything a beginner witch needs to know. It’s time to debunk all of these myths, and take a further look into what witchcraft actually is.
A New Beginning
I am Mae, a 19 year old college student who considers themselves a witch. I started doing witchcraft officially a few months ago, towards the end of January. Even though this, I technically did a lot of things on accident before this without knowing starting when I was 5. Though I do not fully call myself this, I am a medium and going to be starting to get these abilities able based on the fact I have 7 spirits around me and I am starting to realize that I can not just up and ignore them. Isn't that fun :frowning:.
Did anyone else get shivers up their skin as they watched the popular TV show, You? If you have not seen this show, I suggest watching it, and then blowing your brains out with paranoia. The idea of You begins with a woman purchasing a book with a credit or debit card at a bookstore. Then, that innocent act tumbles out of proportions by a deranged man who thinks he is in love, but ends up destroying the girl's life. The chances of anyone having that happen to them are low. Like most people, I cannot name how many times I have used my card to pay for an item at the store. Until I saw You, I would of never second guessed the common act, or the act of giving out my name. I never realized what I could find out based on a name, until I began to proceed in some research.
It Gets Better...
I sit here bored out of my mind, and end up going through some of my old assignments. You expect nothing out of it, and then you find something interesting. Some that you can’t seem to get out of your head. You remember the origin for it, the reasons why and just think. Was I really that insane? Was I really that lost?
Writing Is Not Running
Natalie Goldburg claims that writing is similar to running, but no, it actually isn’t. If it is, I never done either of these tasks. For me to never of wrote, would make this paper non-existent, and I run here and there to get out consolidated energy and thoughts out. You aren’t taught to run; you just jump into it, and maybe if you're smart about it, you stretch before you hit the track.
Change the World Now
Everyone says that they can’t make a change, that they are a single individual that couldn’t make a difference. They say that, but in no way is this true.
Home, a place that has never come easy for me, or has been easy to describe, even now. I never had a place that I felt was stable. When I was younger, I was more worried about what tomorrow would foresee than the worries that a normal kid would carry upon themselves. Money has always created stress in the family, and it was like we never had enough. When we were living in apartments, it was questionable some days if we would come home to an eviction note on the door, and a few times we did. I was one of the what you might say lucky ones in this case. We always had people to go to, relatives, and my mom's friends. Even when we weren’t considered homeless, the fear of becoming it was always there.
Psychological Breakdown of Octavia Blake from 'The 100'
Octavia Blake is an intriguing character from The 100 who has gone through many challenges throughout her lifetime. Octavia was forced to stay in her room most of the time due to the fact she was a second child, and due to population control a second child couldn’t exist. When she was nine she was taken to one of the balls with her brother, Bellamy, and they had fun. Something happened in the middle of it and they put the room on lock down. This is when they took her ID and found out the family's secret. Her mother was floated, and Octavia was placed in the prison for existing. She was there till they sent her and 100 prisoners to the ground. There she made friends and became the link between them and the grounders. The grounders are other people who lived on the ground throughout. This is where she learned to fight among them, from her boyfriend Lincoln. Soon enough in the series she became the leader among a group that reunited all of the grounder nations, and the people from space in a bunker, as a nuclear storm came through. She made the rules and society, that could be compared to Rome where as a punishment for a crime they would have to fight in a gladiator war.
