The Valley
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. For many years, they stayed upon their high peaks, gliding through the air streams and resting within the caves. Towering mountains were maintained by those living in the Valley and the mighty wyverns protected the inhabitants from unwanted travelers. The relationship was symbiotic and harmonious. Eggs would be hatched, and their mothers would bring them for a visit to the little town. Babies would be born, and the mothers would present them to the dragons for a blessing.

The Reason I'm Alive
Dear Mom, For the past eight months that I have been home while attending college, life has been everything but smooth. The transition back home went about as well as one could hope, but that was the last thing that truly went well. Together, we went through a lot of rough 'firsts', and now Mother's Day is here, and I have nothing to give to you but my time and appreciation.

Simple Thanks
This challenge simply states to write an open letter to our hometown heroes, or people who have helped us become who we are today. Many of us probably write down a story for these contests, then change them, rearrange sentences, add or take away certain aspects. However, for this challenge, I am simply going to write out my letter. One copy, one draft, one submission.

"Real" Life Hurts
People say a picture is worth a thousand words, and I would agree. However, oftentimes we judge a picture based on the 0.3 second glance we give it. At first, you may see a happy and joyful mother and daughter enjoying their time on the ocean. With just a quick glance, it looks as though my life is on the up and up. It might appear that I am filled with glee. I may seem as though I have everything put together. I am the strong leader. I am the faithful follower. I am the caring friend, the shoulder to cry on, the one you can depend on.

True Capricorn
The number of times I find myself angered or frustrated to the point I want to punch something is surprisingly high, especially after everything that has happened since last year. So, when this challenge came around and I started looking a bit more into my 'sign', I was a little shocked to see that a lot of 'Capricorns' have this same issue, and it all ties into hiding your emotions to keep other people from worrying about you. If that wasn't the call out of this year to you, then keep reading! I have much, much more to come.

The Perfect Feast
Admit it, the moment you read the challenge name, your mind most likely went either to chips or chicken wings. Even the description has spicy wings as an option, along with chips and dip! I know for certain that if anyone ever invites me over for a game day, they always have some form of chicken wings out for all to feast upon with a plethora of chips and dips on the side. With so many different options to chose from, you can never go wrong with either option. So, why not do both? Let us begin with our main course.

The Ghost Note
"Grandma, we nearly have everything unpacked. Where would you like this notebook to go?" A young woman asks, holding up a small leatherback booklet. It was maybe half a foot in length, with a black fabric tie around it. An elderly woman slowly moves into view. "Ah, my old friend. I had feared I lost you in the move." The older woman takes it gingerly from the hands of her granddaughter, slightly caressing the spine of the little black book. The young woman shakes her head with a sigh. She then proceeds to break down the empty box before her. "You act like that thing is alive, grandma." She turns to face her grandmother and the older lady chuckles. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you. Call me senile you would." A smile cracks on the old woman's features, but it turns sad when she looks at the book once more. "It has been with me and helped me many times, Cassidy."

The Teachers Who Gave Their All
Most people who knew me in middle school would probably describe me as out-going, full of joy, fun to be around! I was known as the strategic class clown, and a brainiac. Most of the students around me would definitely say I was the 'teacher's pet', though it was unintentional. I simply obeyed the rules, did my homework on time, and occasionally got all my work done ahead of schedule so during the school day I could surround myself with books in the library for hours on end. I was raised to respect your teachers, get your stuff done when told, and be kind to everyone, no matter what their beliefs, race, grades, or economical standing was.

Begin Again
To say we all have said our many good-byes to 2020 would be an understatement. However, we also need to remember it didn't start out terribly. Before the virus, I had started a few projects and stories that I was super excited about! I had ideas planned out, and my goal was to get my very first original story published by the end of the year. I had 2020 locked and loaded with creativity, and I was ready to go!

Forgotten
Most cannot recall these tales anymore. They used to be passed down from generation to generation. However, as technological advances took hold, these stories are long forgotten. Deemed fantasy, tossed away as witchcraft and wizardry. Placed alongside stories created about schools for those gifted in such a craft, or chalked up as the active imagination of young children.
