Hi, there! This is Mari. I'm a journalist based in Los Angeles. I’m a lover of all things design, fashion and food, and I can never pass up anything topped with shredded mozz and a scattering of basil.

I Didn’t Know I Was Sleep Deprived Until I Tried Lull
For the past few months, I’ve been feeling completely out of sorts but couldn’t put my finger on the exact reason. The red flags were there; brain fog, grogginess, anxiety. It wasn’t until my watch-style sleep tracker spelled it out for me that I realized: I wasn’t getting enough shut-eye. On top of that, the quality of sleep I was getting ranked in the low, low digits. I know I’m not alone in the struggle to get great sleep. Sleep deprivation takes a toll on your health, happiness, and overall energy levels. In a constant virtual and homebound lifestyle, restfulness often takes a backseat to productivity. So, in an effort to upgrade my personal wellbeing and my sleep, I began the hunt for a new mattress. I was determined to get the best mattress to get the best night’s sleep possible, so I did the research and read all the reviews on the best-rated mattress options out there. All of my research kept leading me back to one brand: Lull. After reading their raving reviews and hearing about how easy the buying process was, I upgraded to an Original Lull Mattress and couldn’t be happier with my decision. Once I started sleeping on my new mattress, I knew with certainty that I was sleep deprived on my old mattress. Here’s how my experience with Lull went.

Why I Won't Go Back To Using Drugstore Shampoo After Using This Detergent-Free Hair Product
You know, the kind that you routinely have to coax into submission with the help of a curler or an extra durable hair band. Throughout my life, I’ve had all the haircuts you can think of: a shoulder-length chop with side-swept bangs, a layered chin-length bob and laidback, flowy waves. I’ve tried most products: hair spray, leave-in conditioner, leave-in everything. But really, years of experience have taught me to just stick with what I know best: a choreography of shampoo and conditioner. Rinse and repeat.
Summer in the time of COVID-19
Sandwiched by many pairs of shoulders from every direction, I stood there slack-jawed, squinting heavenward at God’s cloud-like beard. It was my first time at the Sistine Chapel, and in Rome, in general. The air buzzed with an exhilarating collective energy — with whispered conversations and long, drawn-out gasps. The space was overwhelming not only in its infinite grandeur, but also in the exhausting number of upward-gazing visitors that came to see it. This is a place I’d dreamt of seeing for so long, and I’d been waiting breathlessly for this trip after spending the majority of the year juggling numerous freelance gigs to save up for it.
Free Shakespeare Festival: Together Under The Stars
It’s early August. The heat of the summer gives way to a cool, responsible breeze — one that stirs the air just right, without raising too much of a ruckus. The grass is wet, sticky. When I put my gray, polyester blanket down, it clings to the ground almost immediately. My neighbor Lauren and I kick our shoes off and clumsily plop down.
