Going Back
That was all I had left. I looked down at my hand, the silver locket felt cold and heavy. The chain hung from between my fingers, swaying slowly. That silver heart shaped locket was all I had left of my mother. I still can’t believe she’s gone. I was sure she was safe. The virus wasn’t supposed to have been there yet. We were told that the virus was contained up to the Midwest but they were wrong, everything was a lie. I blamed myself for her getting sick. I should have gotten her out sooner. We just had too many setbacks. The roads were completely blocked off. We had to find another way out of Lindburg but it was too late.
