Beware of yourself when indulging in a shopping day. Yourself and your go-to’s. Maybe you’re the person who only buys floral skirts. You arrive at home thrilled with your "great thrift find" of the day. In an unbranded random supermarket shopping bag sits a brand new mid-length black skirt embroidered with white daisies.

2020 was the year. That year. A year that sounded as preposterous as it turned out to be. We were afraid to leave our houses, afraid to go to the supermarket, to see dear friends. And we were right to be, things were getting worse, and fast. We needed to protect ourselves, be safe. Stay home.

I could feel the salty taste from the sweat that made its way into my mouth from my upper lip. The focal white light over my head was so intense, pointed at me as a sharp inquisitor, forcefully obliging me to act. I was never good at acting. Never good at starting something.
