Sister Emilita D'Entrement
My first long-term relationship outside of my family unit was with my grade primary to grade four teacher. The Catholic Church operated most of the elementary schools in our province during the 1960's and the nuns were the teachers. Laying the foundation for all learning experiences related to the outside world was the purview of Sister Emilita D'Entremont.

Daddy and Me
I was a questioning child...always wanting to know the why of any matter. This is a hard question for any parent to answer at the best of times. However, Daddy always tried to answer my questions--no matter how difficult, and, if he did not know the answer tried to source the answer that was required. He never let me down in this and often had to tell me to be patient but he never forgot the question asked and always found me an appropriate answer when possible. I learned, early in life, that there is not always an immediate or any answer to some of the questions we may have about the world around us. The important thing is that daddy listened to my questions and provided honest answers even if they were not the ones I wanted to hear.

Dr. Seuss and Me
I can remember wanting to be able to read at the age of two as I gazed longingly at the bookshelf in our living room. Watching my mother's face as she read the books in the small library she owned courtesy of The Doubleday Book Club inspired me to emulate her and learn to read books. Whatever was contained in those mysterious tomes moved her to make faces that revealed both her interest and the emotions the words evoked within her. My mother looked so elegantly, beautiful as she sat quietly reading her beloved stories.
