Drug Addiction and Decriminalization
Drug Abuse The topic of drug abuse has gained more attention in the media recently, and for good reason. More people are looking at statistics about drug addiction in the United States, which has allowed them to see that the way we handle drug addiction and offenses has not been beneficial. According to the American Addiction Center, in 2014, around 21 and a half million people in the United States dealt with drug abuse. These numbers do not lie: America’s current drug policy needs to change in order to help those who are affected by addiction.

Drunk Drivers Still Deserve to Live
Recently, on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, I have seen a plethora of posts stating things like, "If you drive under the influence and wreck, you deserve it." I understand the mindset behind these posts, because of the idea that it is better for other people if you wreck, because then their lives are no longer at risk. However, I do not agree with the idea that just because you make a mistake you deserve to get hurt, or potentially die.

How Sometimes College Is Not the Best Option
For a lot of students, their last year of high school is centered around sending in applications to their top colleges and going on visits to see campuses. Today, college is very much the "norm," meaning that more people are attending college than in the past. All of high school seems to be leading up to going to university, and for a lot of students, trying to decide what you want to do with your life is stressful, considering that students go from having to ask to use the bathroom, to having to choose a major that will dictate what their career will be.

How Mental Illness Affected My Life
TRIGGER WARNING: sexual abuse, self harm, suicidal thoughts. Throughout my life, I have struggled with various mental health issues. At a very young age, I faced trauma that no person should have to go through. Starting when I was just five years old, I had to learn how to begin coping with sexual abuse. For ten years, I worried about whether or not I would be able to sleep at night without my abuser coming into my room at some point while I slept. And I never told anyone, until about a year ago. I am nearly 21 now, and I still struggle with many things, because I was never able to healthily discuss what happened to me. I have never known how to talk about my trauma without making jokes about it, and unfortunately, that is not exactly the way to live after abuse.

Hookup Culture
Everyday, there seems to be new articles surfacing about Millennials and their tendency to destroy everything. From marriage to owning a home, this generation has ruined it. Another topic of interest that people have been blaming millennials for ruining is sex. Many people believe that because casual sex is more talked about now, people no longer care about love and intimacy, thus, sex is becoming less important to people. Of course, this rhetoric seems to appeal to older generations, the same people who believe that women are too "promiscuous" nowadays. However, the idea that people do not crave emotional connection that tends to come with sex couldn't be more wrong.
