"You can always come home to me…" The words echoed in his mind as he sat in the back of the church, his wrinkled suit and cracked, hand-me-down oxford shoes afforded him more attention than he wanted when he first walked in. He could feel the judgement coming from the well dressed, neatly pressed masses as their eyes scanned over his haggard appearance. He knew he didn’t belong here, there was no reason he should be at this funeral.

Chapter Two Home Shiloh woke to a well-lit room. Looking down, she found herself lying on a clean and comfortable bed. Fresh bandages covered most of her body, her tattered tunic having been replaced with a new one. The clean fabric hugged her tired skin, warming her in a way she had forgotten was possible. Her head felt light and fuzzy with medicine.
