Outline Your Day
Grayson Marketing is a bustling call center in a modern glass front building. Most every desk has a terrific relaxing view of the man made lake and serene walking paths surrounding the plaza. In the breakroom, coffee and snacks are available at no charge to the employees and there are multiple quiet areas where people can make private phone calls or have personal conversations. All the necessary sales tools and/or training are made available at anytime to anyone who needs them and management has a strict open door policy where help is available most any time.

Fall in Love with your Gatekeeper
Anticipation mounts, you have readied yourself, you know what you'll say when Mr. Decision Maker answers and you have a no fail pitch. The click of the receiver sends excitement down your spine, they speak, and you realize you've just connected to the dreaded Gate Keeper (insert dramatic music). Deflated, you ask for Mr. Decision Maker and a ball of anxiety grows in your stomach in anticipation of the Gate Keeper all time favorite question, "What's this regarding?" (insert dramatic music again). At this point, a picture of the Gate Keeper has formed in your mind. Her pinched sour face is glaring and lines have formed around her mouth and forehead from scowling 24 hours a day, even in her sleep. Then she says the second favorite Gate Keepers sentence, "I can take your information and if he is interested, he'll reach out." You do the classic eye roll and think "How will he be interested if I can't tell him all the good stuff?" So you wasted your prep time and after seconds the opportunity is lost.

Get out of the Attic and into the Basement
Conversations should leave the listeners with a nice relaxed feeling and a confidence they have gotten something good out their time with us. A few days ago, I had a conversation with a man that left me with a vague idea what we talked about. His voice was tight and on the high end of the tones. I had a hard time focusing on what he said and I remember feeling tired after we parted ways. He was definitely in the attic during out conversation. What I mean by that is, his tone of voice was particularly high. In phone sales and appointment setting, we have all experienced this and knew when it happens even if you don't think you have.

Rolling into Health
Living longer, healthier and happier is at the top of everyone's list these days, including my own. The pandemic lockdowns have left so many of us overweight and unfit like we have never been before. Gyms closed, hiking trails closed, schools closed, and local parks closed, we were left with literally no options for working out other than our own living rooms. Boredom set in early and the snacks flowed as we watched tigers eat husbands and housewives dine in Paris. The only exercise we got was doing fork lifts and fridge walks as we packed on the pounds. We cooked, we drank and we ate our way through 2020.

NO COFEE NO WORKEE
Enjoy Coffee Daily Is there anything that tastes better than that first sip of fresh piping hot coffee? Strong coffee, served in the perfect mug, preferably with the large handle so one can hold the cup close to the face with both hands firmly wrapped around the bowl. A smile escapes as we feel a slight tickle under the nose while blowing into the rising steam. The eyes glisten a little as they gaze into the dark brown liquid flowing near the brim. Then the long inhale through the nostrils just before we take that precious first sip. This steaming flavor packed drink that brings the body to life in the wee hours is nothing short of heaven to the senses.

Where The Eagles Bathe
A pair of bald eagles teach us about savoring lifes most precious moments. Owning a dog is one of the surest ways to get in your daily exercise. Particularly when you live in a small space like a Studio or RV as we do. Our Staffordshire Terrier, Athena, takes us for a daily constitutional religiously and without fail. In her opinion, if she were to miss her walk, she’d surely expire and not make the next day. There is a wonderful but secluded beach just walking distance from the RV park where we stay and it’s perfect for allowing Athena to run freely.
