Thunder Never Cries
New Mexico Territory 1892 Lucius McKraden was exhausted and ready to be home after a five-day ride to Sante Fe. The deadline to get a claim to his land was two days earlier, so this trip was necessary. His Sorrel stallion, Ramses was weary but trudged faithfully along. The path was steep and dangerous, but the shortest route to Sante Fe.

A "Tail" of 18 cats
Consider me an animal lover. I have five horses, over 100 head of cattle, five dogs, and now over twenty cats. This is possible because I live on a 2000 acre ranch in Eastern New Mexico, have a large hay barn and two shops. The cattle and horses are pasture feeding through the winter and my dogs stay in a large yard.

Homeschooling in a Pandemic
If I wanted to be a school teacher, I would have chosen that career years ago. Being a teacher is noble, honorable, and a dire necessity to our civilization. Both my parents and my older sister are retired educators, but I am not. However, as a parent of 2 school-age children, I find myself thrust into this role due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I'm sure many of you share my dilemma. It's difficult to keep ourselves focused on earning a living, paying the bills, getting meals on the table, shopping, cleaning up, feeding the dog, having a life, etc. All while attempting to keep some degree of normalcy and sanity for ourselves. Yes, it's been difficult, it's still difficult, and it will continue to be difficult, but if we enable and force ourselves to strategize, plan, and then apply our efforts, we will overcome this and find a way to win.

A Tail of 18 Cats
Consider me an animal lover. I have five horses, over 100 head of cattle, five dogs, and now over twenty cats. This is possible because I live on a 2000 acre ranch in Eastern New Mexico, have a large hay barn and two shops. The cattle and horses are pasture feeding through the winter and my dogs stay in a large yard. Now the issue of my cats. I keep cats around because I have two girls age seven and eight that love playing in the hay barn and shops, most of the time barefooted and ignoring their immediate surroundings. With the ever present threat of rattle snakes, bull snakes, skunks, rats and other pests, my barn cats are worth their weight in gold.
