Now What Do I Do?
I live in a small, rural town in western Illinois. We don't have a stop light or a grocery store. The nearest hospital is in the next state, and are known well for misdiagnosis, malpractice, and patient abuse. The closest in state clinic is roughly 20 minutes from here, past currently dormant corn and soybean fields and grazing cattle. That is not the clinic I currently use.

My Dad was the coolest person you could know, and everyone knew it. He could play any type of guitar you handed him, after tuning it by ear. He learned to play songs just by listening to them. He loved music deeply, and instilled that love, and the love of the written word, in his children too. He often said he would much rather lose his sight than his hearing, because a world without music was not worth living in.

When you contacted me, and sent me that video, I freaked out. I was not okay at all. For one thing, I try very hard to make my interventions untraceable. I don't want these things knowing who I am, or where to find me. For another thing, the fact that you made it out of there with that evidence shocked me. They tend to do a decent job with clean-up, if you know what I mean. It took me three days to decide I would respond, and several more to actually do so.

Mom has this idea of a utopia where everyone can be happy. I ask her every time if she ever watches the news or picks up a paper. We will never all be happy. There is too much war, too much hate. It’s ugly out there. This old house is the only safe haven.
