Fanfiction: storytelling tool or just smut?
Fanfictions or just fanfics are works of literature created by fans of a certain series or intellectual property. Those works are often published online to be read and shared by other fans of the series. Fanfiction has gotten a bad reputation of being themed smut with fictional characters. That is not all true. If the reader refines their research, they will find detailed, well-thought and creative stories that will make the reader emotional and pleased. Like a kid wrote that? This is way more engaging than I thought.

A Second Serving Please!
In the last year, Netflix has impressed us by bringing new and remastered anime and live-action shows from Japan. Among the socially-realistic Aggretsuko and the disappointing Death Note movie, this live-action adaptation of Kodoku no Gourmet is sure to give you a mouth-watering story you would want seconds of. Translated as Samurai Gourmet, it tells the retired life of a man who rediscovers the joys of life and observes the many ways he could change his attitude towards others by thinking of what a lone samurai would do. It is a heart-warming series that would make you want to try Japanese cuisine for yourself.

The Philosophy of Cosplay
Cosplay: a term you may have stumbled upon if you are part of any pop cultural community. Merriam-Webster dictionary says cosplay is a compound word of costume and play that refers to an activity or practice of dressing up as a character from a work of fiction (such as a comic book, video game, or television). It was apparently first used by Japanese journalist Noboyuki Takahaski as 'kosupure' in 1983. Just to put it into perspective, that is one year before the first Ghostbusters film was released in theaters. Cosplay was first coined in English in 1993. That’s the year The Nightmare Before Christmas was released. There is basically no limit to what one can do for cosplay. I personally have been cosplaying for five years by 2018 and I can say that this practice has somehow helped me grow as an individual. I wanted to share my experience with you. I do not claim to be a scholar or an expert of any kind. Take this text as what it is. If I find more sources, I might rewrite a more accurate paper.
