Everyone knows that the winter holidays are supposedly the happiest time of the year. Well, I say it is not for a lot of families around the world, even just in our hometowns. So let me explain this a bit as I am sure a lot of people would disagree with me.
First I want to make clear that before this experience, I loved camping and the outdoors! Nature was my peaceful place to be and I enjoyed every single moment of being in or around it.
So, lately I've been noticing as I am sure you have, that the world seems to be falling apart at the seams. We have wars going on yea, but what I'm talking about is in North America's backyard. We have a general crisis, this being that people are so stuck in their own ways of thinking that every little thing SOMEONE ELSE does seems to somehow affect their lives.
The human species: supposedly the most intelligent beings on our planet. Yet what type of intelligent creature destroys their only home? You see most intelligent creatures adapt to their environment, living in harmony with nature and the other animals in that area. We, human beings, do not do this. Instead, we adapt everything to us. We don't care how much we destroy as long as it suits our needs. This is not a sign of an intelligent creature. In fact, this is the sign of a primitive being: something that doesn't understand the delicate balance of the planet they live on.
As pretty much everyone knows, we have almost reached the point of no return on the consumption of our planet's resources. This can be proven with a simple google search. What you will find in that search is that every six months we use all the resources the world can naturally reproduce in a year, meaning every year's worth of resources takes two years for the planet to reproduce. So with this in mind, we as a species have turned towards the stars to look for a new home. The problem is other planets are light years away; for those that do not know, a light year is the distance which light can travel uninterrupted in a year. With light travelling at 186,000 miles per second, it's quite a distance. Now scientists say since we are a solid object moving through space, we will never achieve lightspeed, but could come within a few decimal points of it, which is awesome; but then we are left with a few other problems.
Perpetual poverty is a person or family not being able to leave a life of poverty no matter what they do. You may think this is not possible or maybe you are in the same situation. I have lived in this state most my adult life, I have had many jobs with different pay and lived in a few different locations to try and fix it though it never works. Don't get me wrong there are always going to be those few times a year where you feel you have escaped it just to be slammed back to the mud a month or two later.
