Dear Stress
(Somewhere, 2014) There’s an ongoing ache down the left side of my neck, and I think to myself, Is this psychosomatic pain? Refer to YouTube and WebMD, an article or two on Livestrong about fibromyalgia. I should probably stop searching for all the things wrong with me I likely would live unaware of if I just took a nap, enjoyed several episodes of No Reservations, and shrugged off this generationally iconic dependence on Wi-Fi. I don’t have fibromyalgia, weird news is full of shit about “early onset amnesia” (really a rare variant of Alzheimer’s that occurs in young adulthood. A young bride in Australia supposedly had this condition), and my supervisor in college was right to tell me that I was full of shit when I’d muse and pace over fatal meningitis. Well, I wouldn’t have to come to work tomorrow!

The Life Force Driving Us All
The 1999 acclaimed film American Beauty depicts what "should" exemplify a typical, well-to-do American family. In a struggle to conform to societal standards of a respectable lifestyle, dysfunction only ensues. Simply witnessing the angst and struggles experienced by the characters of American Beauty, viewers gather that the film is a satire of American culture. But by paying closer attention to the dynamic use of the color red and the red rose, viewers will better appreciate the film's criticism of American standards of beauty.

Asking and Explaining
We know that infidelity often results in breakups, divorces and social stigmatization. Western society has frowned upon straying from one’s intimate partner, from the widespread reproach of public figures such as former president Bill Clinton, presidential hopeful John Edwards, actress Kristen Stewart, and professional golfer Tiger Woods, among others. Indeed, partner’s betrayal makes for great emotional upset, perpetuating verbal and even physical abuse. What exactly drives people to cheat? It’s worth examining the literature on people’s reactions and ways of addressing infidelity across genders, social status, and age. Further, cheating may be motivated by fulfillment of needs, the desire for self-growth, and different personality types.
