Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. It was proven, however that in the cyclonic circulation of a tornado it is unbelievably noisy, when it was thought to be silent. We are frightened by the things we do not know and so we give them stories to let them feel more terrifying. Can you imagine being inside a vortex of death and hearing nothing? You’d believe you were dead.

Sleeping with the Lights On
The dull, viridescent light flooded out from the television and tugged at Sophie’s closed eyes, beckoning to be seen. What made Sophie succumb to sleep during her favorite sitcom? Was it the gentle tapping of the ceiling fan? Perhaps her cat Luna’s gentle hum seemed like a lullaby as she rested her head in Sophie’s lap. It might have been her sofa’s cyan cushions holding her like an embrace from her mom whom she dearly missed.

I’m holding a flame in a church you’ve never been in. You’ve never worshiped your lord in here. And I, the tourist, attempt to see what you saw in relics like these. Is it the incandescent flames puncturing the walls, staining the virgin, bleeding the glass? Do you see the same stains that I do? Or do you just see Jesus born to a woman named? Maybe you saw life. You saw a reasoning to the earth spinning. I never did ask if you thought it spun. Well it does, Grandmother. Maybe you know that now. I hope you know more than me wherever you are, that’s if you still are.
