Between Two Worlds
I am jolted awake by the intensely irritating beep, beep, beep, beep, beep of my alarm. I immediately sense the familiar pounding in my head as I reach for my phone and tap snooze. Rolling over, I snuggle in for a much needed eight more minutes of rest. Eyes closed, my always racing mind kicks into drive and the rapid self talk begins.

Life According To Pear
Can you believe he just left me here? Alone, resembling half of what I once was. I’m resting on a plastic chair in the far corner of a carriage in the gap between the wall and where the soft blue cushion of the seat begins. The child who left me here is long gone. I wonder if anyone will notice me and more importantly, if noticed, how will I be judged?

Happy Birthday
I sit at one of the North facing windows of our family cabin, tucked in at the base of Yoho Valley in the National Park. I watch as the day’s light seamlessly disappears over the mountain range making way for the darkness to creep in and settle across the night sky. It’s snowing and the howl of the constant November winds sweeping around our cabin reminds me of the scenes in the Harry Potter movies when the Dementors arrive. As the darkness descends so too does the icy cold air, sucking the life out of the day.
