This Election is About YOU
I'm still reeling over the news that a Domestic Terrorist Group, "Wolverine Watchmen", planned to kidnap a sitting Governor of the United States and now we find out that another Governor was also targeted. Our country is in turmoil and reading about, not one but two plots to kidnap, put on trial, and potential kill governors, really put into perspective where we are as a country. Racism and America go hand and hand. They are so intertwined that when people speak out against racism, some Americans, feel as though they are protesting America. Think of how the Trump and his supporters talk about the Black Lives Matter protestors as looters and rioters but commend Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old white teenager who shot and killed protestors, is referred to by Tucker Carlson as "maintaining order when no one else would". Trump has exacerbated this idea that to be Racist is to be American and that America is Racist and we, are now seeing the effects that racism has, not only on black people and people of color but our entire country. If racists can get away with and gain power over one group, it's only a matter of time before they come for YOU. I am reminded of a Quote at the National Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC.

A Day in the Life Teaching Remotely
I’m not a traditional teacher. I do, however, have several years of experience working in schools with students. I currently work at a high school in our work-study department. Before COVID, I managed the transportation for our program and on average taught a class once a month. Seeing as how students aren’t going to physical work location my role has changed and now my team and I are teaching at least 2 classes a day virtually focused on professional development. I'm sharing my experience to highlight my struggle and the struggle of many other teachers but I also wanted to share the little structure I have found in our chaotic times. Being vulnerable and being human is especially important during these perilous times and I hope a sneak peek into my day, will create some solidarity in knowing, you are not alone.
