Resolutions Made After That Year
It's almost become cliché to say that 2020 was a bad year. It was and I'm not denying that, but this year I'm taking some of the life lessons that I learned and turning them into a set of resolutions I hope to take into 2021. We need to be aware that the turning of the clock will not heal a broken world, but hopefully a broken year can make us all into somewhat better people.

The Band That Kept Me Going
I've had Spotify for a couple of years now. At the end of each year, the streaming service has a wrap up, a list of your top songs that year. In the past years these lists have been an amusing way to revisit songs, something to compare with others. My music tastes don't change that much and 2020 was no exception, but what was a little different were the stories and feelings that came with the music of 2020.

Gift Ideas for Book Lovers
Everyone who knows me recognizes that I am a Reader with a capital R. I love books of all kinds and make it a goal to read every single day. This holiday season, I have created a list of ideas for the Reader in your life. Certainly there are the obvious solutions - a gift card to their bookstore of choice, some coffee or tea to enjoy while reading, a book light from a big box retail store, but you have other alternatives, alternatives that are more personalized and support small businesses during these difficult times.

Diverse Fiction to Expand Your Thinking
It's no secret that I am an avid reader. I read over a hundred books in 2020 and I'm eager to read just as many in 2021. Reading is one way to open your mind, to expand your way of seeing the world. We all come from our own limited perspective, and finding new perspectives is one of the many benefits of being well-read.

The Best Advice I've Ever Received
I'm an awkward human being. I was an awkward kid, I'm an awkward adult and with luck, I'll be an awkward old lady someday. As a child, I was constantly bombarded with the ways that I was socially delayed, behind others. Other kids had friendships, sleepovers, the attention of others, and I could barely stammer my way through a conversation. Other kids had grace, charm and hand-eye coordination and I barely spoke, got lost in books and let anxiety get the best of me.

Why The World Just Isn't Made for Singles
For some of us, being single isn’t the kiss of death. There are a growing number of adults who are perfectly happy with the single life. Whether it’s because they’ve been burned before, because of an introverted, independent personality, or just because they aren’t prioritizing relationships, some people do not need a partner in order to fulfill their lives.
