Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; beauty is on the inside, not the outside. Young children grow up hearing these phrases of encouragement throughout their lives. As one grows and matures into adulthood their idea and envisionment of beauty changes. The painting of the ugly duchess is an "ugly" painting by the shallowest definition of beauty. However, some correctly believe, that influences from one's culture and background have to do with the way that one perceives beauty.
Altruism, whether psychological or biological is a kind act towards another person in which they expect nothing in return without holding a grudge. Many people are never able to master this, some say. Others say that one can maintain this point of view. Whether this is true or not has never been determined; however, literature can help to recieve a fully rounded picture of what altruism might look like in everyday life. Here is one description of altruism:
I will be discussing the effects of these specific drugs on children: Chloral Hydrate (CH), Meperidine (M), and Hydroxyzine (H) (regimen A) versus Midazolam (MZ), M, and H (regimen B). There was a study done using sixteen children I will be using as evidence to support my case. I will be rating the medication based on their effectiveness and side effects on the children. Many parents are faced with important decisions for their children in life; however, many are pressured into making the wrong decision for their children when it comes to medication. Parents are pressured by doctors and teachers to medicate their children, while only being told that it is experimental. They are not given the proper risk in the scenarios. This leads to parents making the wrong choice for their child’s well being, and it can lead to faulty practical and ethical decisions.
Social media can be dangerous for many reasons as was pointed out by the documentary, Generation Like. They pointed out that many teenagers are finding their identities in social media and big business is taking advantage of that. People make money and find their identities in social media, making it a dangerous thing in society.
The Hunger Games is a film set in a post-apocalyptic time where people are separated by districts and are forced to participate in a game, The Hunger Games. The districts choose two representatives from each district to fight and kill representatives from other districts until one person is left. This film uses mental blindness to address, and make a statement on, psychosocial issues in this era. The concept of a mental blindness that impairs judgment is at the core of the oppressors’ tactics to control the populace. Although the oppressors are outnumbered by those they control, they maintain their control through creating fear, social separation, and changing mindsets, these themes are shown in The Hunger Games through different camera angles and colors.
The tired, old wind now only wheezes out a few dry breaths, and the sun has gone away leaving the sky gray, dark, and cloudy while the grass becomes brittle and stiff. There is a small, abandoned road in the middle of a field leading up to a house far away from everything. In fact, it’s on its own island. The road is rough and rocky, though from a distance one can hardly tell that it is there. The woman and her husband who were left shipwrecked here ten years ago had built the house.
