The following is an excerpt from a talk I gave on social media at Amplifying Ideas. St. Albert's Amplify Festival celebrates student art and inspires creativity. It is entirely youth initiated. Thank you so much to the Amplify Festival Committee for welcoming me to speak at your event!
I used to envy those people who had a plan for their life. They knew what was up and they were set on making their goals happen. They were determined and dedicated—nothing could deter them. These people are superheroes—they don't really exist.
It’s hard to put the last five months living abroad into words. I’m keen for my next adventure and I’m still processing my exchange experience and the profound effect it had on my life.
So you just graduated. You just listened to lengthy speeches about how many amazing things you are going to accomplish and how wonderful life has been so far. Your face hurts from smiling for so many pictures. You are surrounded by your best friends and all of the people that have supported you through high school in the most glamorous of clothing- all of it is like consolidation for that impending fear of graduation, that you’ll screw it all up after this day.
