An Open Letter to the Person who let me Make Questionable Fashion Choices (but really believed I could rock them)
To my best friend— When prompted to consider the strongest woman that I knew, my mind flashed through the exuberant list of options. Do I write about an unknown, anonymous woman that is code for “all women”? Or do I write about the obvious— there is, of course, Michelle Obama, Greta Thunberg, Simone Biles… The number of women, whether anonymous or easily identified, who inspire me and continue to make an everlasting impression on the women of today, tomorrow, and yesterday is awestruckingly beautiful and diverse. However, when I considered what I would write in a letter to them, the words did not feel effortless. I found myself staring at the predictive text options, hoping I would find a word that fit well and completed my sentence in a way that was at least equally as inspiring as the women I wanted to write about. However, the truth is— nobody completes my sentences as well as you do. And in full transparency, rarely does anybody inspire me the way you do. You might not be Michelle Obama, but here’s a list of reasons why you are the most tenacious, wholeheartedly irresistible person I know.

The History of Vaccination
Following the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the frantic state of the world irrupted into a chaos that was unimaginable to most, consisting of panic and a wild spread of misinformation. Individuals in science and the medical field are no stranger to fabrication, constantly dealing with and debunking the information spread by Doctors with a PhD from Mark Zuckerburg himself. Upon the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination from Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson, many questions and commentaries started to rise, including the Great Debate about what vaccines are and from where they come. Lucky for me (and you, my dear reader), a particular pocket of my brain has been reserved specifically for this moment, as my fascination for history and science has been planted together to sprout into a gorgeous vine and deliciously prolific flower of vaccination information.

A Manifested Memory
Eleanor wasn’t sure what force it was that pulled her into that little east coast antique store that day. She had walked by it daily since she began working her job at the tiny bakery on the corner of a busy-for-a-coastal-town street and Princetown road. The windows appeared fogged up with the thick layers of dirt and debris collected as years worth of old chests stuffed with newspaper from the 60s, and long gone Grandmother’s teapots made their way in and out. The door stood not much taller than Eleanor herself, its old oak frame providing an entryway that anyone larger than 6’ would have to duck. At first, it was not Eleanor’s intention to go in, and when the echo in her mind insisted she stopped and did so, she even considered resisting it. The weather was cold and unwelcoming, and after an 8-hour shift in the back kitchen of the bakery, Eleanor indeed had intended to go directly home. However, some voices demanded to be heard— even if it was the echo that she so often ignored.
